It will typically be in a small rural town with a heavy religious influence, a place in which corporal punishment has always been the norm. There is a good chance that this is also a town in which corporal punishment is still allowed in the schools.
When a girl that has grown up in such an environment, it is quite likely that corporal punishment has been the primary form of discipline since she was a little girl. There are many parents out there that feel that the only proper spanking is one that is delivered severely.
